Leadership & Organizational Development

The leadership and organizational development content at TLI is designed as one connected body of learning.
Some of it focuses on the leader. Some focuses on the people and teams they lead. Some moves into the structures, goals, systems, and processes that help an organization work well. And some comes back to the person behind the leadership role.
These are not separate ideas. Together, they reflect our approach to developing stronger leaders, teams, and organizations.
This page gives you the context for how that approach fits together—and where the different learning experiences fit within it.
Our Underlying approach

Build the People First. Then Build the Processes.

At the center of our approach is a people-first philosophy.
Processes, structures, systems, and goals matter—but people are the ones who make them work. Leaders influence people. People work together in teams. And those teams ultimately carry out the work of the organization.
That people-first thinking does not belong to one course or one stage of the training. It runs throughout the entire body of work—from leadership, relationships, and accountability to organizational structure, expectations, goals, systems, and continuous improvement.
The Person Behind the leader
The leader is one of those people.
Wellbeing, habits, experiences, strengths, blind spots, and responses all influence how someone leads. That is why our leadership development also pays attention to the person behind the role.
For those who want to explore that part of themselves more deeply, our broader Personal Growth learning goes further.

The system that that puts it into practice

The Truby Management System

The Truby Management System (TMS) is the core framework behind our leadership and organizational development work.

It turns the people-first philosophy into a practical system leaders can use to build stronger teams and organizations. Its four phases and eight steps are designed to build on one another in sequence.

The sequence matters. People drive process. The later structures and systems work because the people responsible for them have the foundation to use them well.

Each step moves from understanding the idea to applying it through individual leadership, with a team, and across the organization.

The complete implementation program

Profit-Driven Leadership Training

Our Profit-Driven Leadership Training (PDLT) is the complete guided program for learning the TMS in depth, applying it in real leadership situations, and putting the full approach into practice.

The journey begins with Foundations, where leaders establish the leadership mindset, perspective, and core skills used throughout the training.

From there, leaders work through the four phases and eight steps of the TMS, exploring each step in depth and learning how it applies in their own leadership, with their team, and across the organization.

The program also includes A Leader’s Personal Wellbeing—bringing the person behind the leadership role back into the learning—and concludes by integrating the full system for continued application and long-term use.

So why is a leadership program called "Profit-Driven"?

Profit-driven does not mean leaders are taught to chase profit directly. Our approach is based on the idea that stronger business results are built upstream:

Leadership → Teams → Operations → Profit

Leaders influence people. People work together as teams. Teams carry out the operations of the organization. And when leadership, teamwork, and operations become stronger, better financial results can follow.

This relationship is what we calls the Strategic Path to Profit.
